GOOD NEWS !!!!!!!!!!!
... Renewals are Coming ...
The MBCE will mail out renewal notices in October.
Call the MBCE office if your
notice does not arrive by
October 31, 2000.
More good news ....
There are no
continuing education credits
due this renewal cycle!
What affects your renewal status???
Board statute says your renewal must be POSTMARKED by December 31. That does not mean dropped in a mailbox outside your office door or on the street corner! That does not mean dated by the postage meter in your office! That does mean, stamped with a date by someone in your local post office!
If you are late, and we believe you KNOW if your license renewal is late, you should include the appropriate late fee of $150.00 (per month) to insure the quickest possible correction of the late situation! Exceptions and waivers are granted after the fact, not upon receipt of the tardy form and incomplete payment! NO EXCEPTIONS! So don't call and beg the poor person who answers the phone with hope of being told otherwise.
If you didn't get your form, and you have moved recently, first ask yourself: "Did I comply with the notice of address change rule?" All licensees are required to notify the Board in writing within 30 days of changing their address. Not doing so may result in not receiving important information (i.e., your renewal form) from the Board. This can result in increased administrative costs to the board and significant penalty fees being assessed to you. Also, please remember your renewal notice is printed in early October to allow for timely processing by board staff (i.e., enclosing inserts, affixing postage, post office handling, etc.).
Okay, enough on this topic!
Featured Statute
Minn. Stat. Section 148.105
VIOLATION
Subdivision 1. Generally. Any person who practices, or attempts to practice, chiropractic or who uses any of the terms or letters "Doctors of Chiropractic," "Chiropractor," "D.C.," or any other title or letters under any circumstances as to lead the public to believe that the person who so uses the terms is engaged in the practice of chiropractic, without having complied with the provisions of sections 148.01 to 148.104, is guilty ...
The Board is concerned about possible violations of the above law related to the pre-licensure use of the terms listed. Such violations may typically occur when graduates use these terms before completing the licensing requirements specified in Minnesota Statutes, sections 148.01 to 148.104.
To prevent placing yourself at legal risk, you are encouraged to consult with your attorney before implementing the use of these terms. Please DO NOT contact the Board to ask for advice on such issues. The Board is prohibited from providing private legal advice.
TO MAKE LIFE EASIER!
The MBCE would like to begin collecting e-mail information on its licensees. If you are interested in becoming a part of such a test group please send an e-mail stating that interest to:
John Burbey
Communications Coordinator
at
john.burbey@state.mn.us
We will notify you when we are ready to begin using the
electronic format. Additionally, due to system limitations, licensees will be limited to
one e-mail address per person.
